Encouraging responsible land use through land reclamation
Restoration of disturbed land is more than just restoring contours and replanting native vegetation. To restore land properly, care must be taken to reclaim the soil, drainage, erosion control, native plant community, wildlife habitat, and future land use. Reclamation of disturbed land may be especially important in Alberta, where there have been industrial, agricultural, energy sector, and resource extraction activities that have altered ecosystems.
